Windows 7 Loader From Matrix

Several times after performing a system restore I’ve found my computer doesn’t boot – instead I get a message which says ‘Boot device not found’. Other messages that fall into the same problem are: • no bootable device – insert boot disk and press any key • NTLDR is missing or corrupted • Ntoskrnl.exe is missing • Ntdetect.com is missing • BOOTMGR is missing or corrupted • NTFS.SYS is missing • Hal.dll is missing Below is the process I use to repair a corrupt or missing Windows Boot Loader (BCD). The same process applies for Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. Step 1: Get the command prompt loaded To repair the BCD you will need to enter some commands into the command prompt. The easiest way to get the command prompt loaded is to boot from your Windows install media and clicking ‘Repair your computer’. 100ma If you don’t have a Windows install media, see • Boot the Windows install media • At the first window just click ‘Next’ • • Click ‘Repair your computer’ at the bottom left of the window • • From the options, click on ‘Troubleshoot’ • • Then ‘Advanced options’ • • Then ‘Command Prompt’ • • The command prompt will now load on the screen Step 2: rebuild Windows Boot Loader (BCD) In the command prompt, run the following commands • diskpart • sel disk 0 • list vol • This will display a list of all the volumes on the drive. In the next step you need to select the windows boot volume — it will be relatively small, e.g.

WowMatrix is 100% FREE, runs beautifully on Mac OS X, Linux and Windows. World of Warcraft™: World of Warcraft and Blizzard Entertainment are trademarks.

In this example the volume is vol 2 • sel vol 2 • assign letter=v: • exit • v: • dir • This should display either an empty drive (“File Not Found”) or a single directory called EFI • Now to run the important command – the rebuild • bcdboot C: Windows /l en-us /s v: /f all • When completed you will see ‘Boot files successfully created.’ • Type exit to close the command prompt and choose ‘Turn off this computer’ to leave the Windows install environment. • Remove the install media and turn on the computer – Windows should now load.

Will someone at Nokia Development provide some kind of a matrix of Windows 7 compatibility for the most widely used Nokia software? I'd like to be able to plan for my Windows 7 upgrade properly, and it would help out if Nokia can provide information as to what current version of what Nokia software works with Windows 7, what doesn't, which future release is planned, and if each software can run on 64 bit Windows 7 as well. Currently, the Nokia software I run on my Windows XP are: PC Suite Nokia Software Updater Nokia Maps Updater Nokia Map Loader Nokia Car Kit Software Updater My current plan is to upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit, and I have accounted for every software and driver, and am ready except for the Nokia part of the story.

Nokia's group of software is the only set that's holding me back. This will be very helpful. Thanks in advance! I'm not so worried about 'if' Nokia will port their software over to Windows 7 compatible space, but 'when,' if ever. But more importantly is the device drivers for 64-bit Windows 7, versus 32-bit. A compatibility matrix, like all other software and hardware manufacturers are doing, will be nice and handy.

On Windows 7 32bit Home Premium PC Suite installed with no trouble at all. That includes using BlueTooth as the initial form of connection once it was running. Where Nokia are perhaps open to criticism is in failing to point out that their software will run or, should they be concerned about not having updated it for W7, pointing out any limitations. One is tempted to say that with the W7 beta having been around for such a long time both certification and lack of any limitations should have been achieved by the release date. As I posted in the Ovi section of this forum, Ovisuite 2.0.0.10 works on Win7 x64, but the installation 'experience' is not smoothly. Specially the PC Suite Services driver and the MTP driver have issues. In the end, they work, but it took quite some effort.
